Seriously though...there is no place duller than a vacation spot in the wintertime. The area is kind of dead, and the only signs of life are the senior citizens drinking their coffees in the fast food place up in town. Even that really loud, annoying donkey down the street isn't braying our ears off.
All that's left to do is sit around inside. And this being a new, empty house, there isn't even any way of amusing oneself. There's a few board games, including a useless Go board that lacks adequate instructions. Not that anyone'd be willing to play them with me. There's a tv, and a few old dvds. Better than nothing.
However, I did work on my lamp some more. Last time I got him out, I had filled in all the cracks with plaster, and today I sanded them smooth. I also gave him a bath. His hair was completely disgusting, and all the little grooves were caked with about 25 years worth of dirt and grime. I could swear his subtle smile grew more prominent as I lovingly cleaned him up.
At this point, you're probably wondering why I'm referring to a lamp as a "he". It is because I cherish him like a child. There is nothing - NOTHING - more beautiful than a lamp base that's actually a bust of Michael Jackson. I won him in an eBay bidding war. I excitedly awaited his arrival. And when he finally did arrive, I was heartbroken to find out that he had been reduced to shards, small crumbles, and even is some places, dust. His head was perfect; it was only from his neck down that was completely destroyed, thankfully. I was not about to let my money and this beautiful piece of art go to waste, so over the span of several weeks my grandparents and I painstaking pieced him back together. I am very pleased with our work. It looked so hopeless, but our patience paid off. All I have to do now is re-paint him, and he'll be better than new. I'll put up a picture once he's done. Once I have my own house, he'll be lighting up my front living room to greet all my guests <3
